Dad Dad's day on the couch! Oh to be so lucky...

Wearing her dressing gown!! So gorgeous.

Max started feeling like he was getting a cold too yesterday so he rugged up and took it easy as he didn't have much work on, then this morning he said he wasn't feeling very good so he stayed in bed until late and then when he got up I said that I was taking Lilli for a walk and he asked if he could stay on the couch and rest because he was so crook that he needed to just rest up. After Lilli had slept we had lunch and then I took Lilli to Pukekohe to get a couple of warm sweatshirts for her and once again Max stayed home sleeping on the couch!! Men, aye! They are just hopeless when it comes to having a cold. Not only did he say that he thought his cold was worse than mine, he also reckoned that his throat was worse. Let's compare:

Max on day 1 still ate and talked fine. Rugged up and rested most of the day popping panadol due to 'extremely severe headache'.

Max on day 2 sleeps all day on the couch as throat is sore and head aches. Actually says that his cold is worse than mine and Lilli's was. Sleeps soundly until morning.

Max on day 3 eats half a packet of strepsils (exageration!!) has needed approximately 6 strepsils daily to cope with sore throat so far. Makes comment that dinner is beautiful but he may not be able to swallow it, still manages to eat the whole huge plate full though. Sleeps soundly until morning.

Jodi on days 1 to 3 has no voice for 95% of the day and has a headache and an extremely sore throat. Is trying to keep it together enough to make sure that Lilli is as comfortable as possible with her awful cold, sore throat, mucus, runny nose, etc. Poor baby struggles to breath when breastfeeding!! Stays away from strepsils or other medicines so that none get passed through to Lilli. Takes 4 panadol a day.

Jodi on days 4 to 6 drinks a meal supplement drink each night for dinner as she can't swallow any food. Still hasn't managed to get any time on the couch or managed any extra sleep (in fact is getting less) due to the fact that Lilli is still not well and very clingy. Thoughts are focused on getting Lilli well and getting wee happy girl back. Had to have a strepsil at bedtime to get to sleep due to dry hacking cough. Wakes during the night with such sore throat that needs a strepsil to breathe as can't breath through nose.

Jodi on days 7 to 10 still has a flemy hacking cough and runny nose but otherwise is feeling better. Gets to sleep without coughing but wakes about an hour later and coughs all night.

Hahaha, so do you think that he got a much more severe version of the cold??? Absolutely! Men always do. :D

Lilli playing in the shower while I got dried and dressed. She loved it. She pulled the drain plug out and was skimming it around the shower base and playing with her toys. She would lie down and then get back up, then lie down again. Then she'd sit up again and play with her toys or the shower head. She stood up and banged against the shower door and was yelling to me excitedly. I wish I knew what she was saying! She was just having an absolute ball. She didn't want to get out and when I'd open the door and ask if she wanted to get out she'd say BYE... BYE. Hahaha. Sooo cute. I would love to put up the gorgeous videos I took but they are nudy and I wouldn't want them to get into the wrong hands on the internet. Lilypie Breastfeeding PicLilypie Breastfeeding Ticker

Playing Chase & a Cold Update

Talking to the elephant lady that she used to talk to when she was in Germany.

Lilli and Nan nan were playing chase this afternoon and Nan nan was saying ok are we playing chase, I chase you, etc, and Lilli was running around laughing and having fun with Nan nan chsing her. Then when Nan nan tried to stop for a while Lilli came and got her and shoved her in front of her and started chasing her saying 'Chase chase'! What a crack up.

When it was time to put her shoes on later she said 'Shoes'. She is really talking a lot now and stringing words together more and more. She will be a chatterbox too because she yakks away in her 'own language' heaps. :)

She also says the following now:

Barney (yes, the big purple dinosaur!)

Mummy

Tah tah (when she wants you to have something)

Bye (when she wants you to go! or when she wants to go. Hahaha)

As for our colds, Lilli levelled off on Friday but has remained snuffly and blocked up. I assume she still has a bit of a sore throat but am hoping I'm wrong. My throat is still really sore and at night it's just about impossible to swallow. I have been having a protein drink instead of dinner because I just can't swallow food. I hope that Lilli comes right soon. I know that if we'd both managed to have a day at home at the onset we would be better than we are and I know that if by some miracle we could have a day sleeping that we would be much better too. But hey, we are soldiering on. :)

Max made Lilli a 'tent' and we had a tea party inside.

Hmmm, now she brings her little step into our bedroom so that she can reach more stuff on my dressing table...

and get into the top little drawers!!!

Here she is having a chat with herself in the mirror. :)

Cereal

This morning when I did my usual routine of taking Lilli the container with Rice Bubbles in and the container with Cornflakes in to ask her which cereal she preferred this morning, she picked the Ricies as usual and I got them ready. We watched as they snap, crackle, and pop and then after I got my weetbix ready we went to sit in the lounge together for breakfast. When I said not long after, 'Lilli do you want some more cereal?' she turned around and said 'cereal'. Clever monkey aye!

Then later today Lilli dropped her toy in the bathroom and said 'Oops'. I cracked up laughing and of course she grinned back at me like she knew she'd said something cute. :D

Wot Wot...

This morning Lilli and I were having breakfast together when the Wot Wots came on and we did our little dance to the theme song as we do. Then when I was about to give her another spoonful of cereal she looked at me and said Wot wot!!! Soooo cute. Yet another word. She says new words nearly every day now!

The other thing she likes to do is try and feed herself her cereal. I can't believe I haven't written about this previously because she has been doing it for a while. It's very cute. I am trying to help her learn to keep the spoon level so that the cereal doesn't end up slipping off! She's getting pretty good. :)

Back to Auckland

We came back to Auckland today. What a terrible trip! Poor Lilli is just so over the car and she is just so miserable with the flu! She can hardly breath because she's so blocked up and she obviously has a very sore throat, plus she's got a fever. She wouldn't stay in her carseat without screaming and I ended up having to nurse her on the way home.

Once we got back to Mum & Willie's we stayed there for a couple of hours before attempting the last leg back to our house. Lilli was pleased to finally get to our house but she was buggered so we had an early shower and got her ready for bed. Then she had snuggles and booby with Mummy and went to sleep.
